INFORMATION FOR CANINE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS (CEOs) EMPLOYED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

You may need Adobe Reader to view these files.

Several years ago we filed a Complaint under the Fair Labor Standards Act on behalf of current and former CEOs employed by the United States Customs Service (now Customs and Border Protection of the Department of Homeland Security) for unpaid off-the-clock work performed in connection with various dog training activities.  Approximately 60 individuals opted into that case across the nation and it proceeded to trial in the Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C., where Judge Emily Hewitt heard testimony from 6 representative plaintiffs and ruled in their favor. The United States appealed Judge Hewitt’s decision and the case is presently on appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
